Five Releases

I've been diving into genealogy lately and the only desire I've come away with is to build a time machine so I can go back and put bar codes on all the ancestors.  I swear the only names available were Robert, John, William and Margaret.  If that isn't bad enough, they had the audacity to either go by a nickname or use their middle name.  You can imagine how much fun that can be when trying to match census records with birth and marriage records.  I had to haul in an extra table to sit beside my computer desk to house the scanner, albums, local history books and notes I've made.  Despite that, my desk is still under a deluge of pads, pens, rulers and miscellaneous loose papers which is why I can't find the notepad I had been keeping track of the music I was listening to while I was creating these hairstyles so there's no 'playlist' notes for this post.  I'm sure I'll come across my lost notepad at some point.

The first one is BB, named after the woman that had requested this simple yet elegant updo.

These next two are variations.  The first one is the 'no frills' version called Electron which is a very tall spiraled hair.  There's no tips colors for this style so the Dead Pack and Complete Pack have had their prices adjusted to reflect this.

This one is called Magnetic which is a more elaborate flexi version of the above.

While I was doing the photo sessions I couldn't resist taking some pictures for use as creative shots which I'm sure I'll get around to at some point in time and while I'm on this theme, Ruina Kessel, a wonderfully creative individual, has started a Hairoin Hair Flickr group (much to my delight and surprise) which can be found here http://www.flickr.com/groups/1766638@N25/.  So if you're feeling an artistic spark and want to show it off be sure to stop by the Flickr group to post it.

New Releases

I meant to get these out in August but I've been busy dodging bullets, so to speak.
I've got 4 new ones out in the store.  I'll start with the style that has two variations first.  This is Afreet which comes with an optional gothic head piece that attaches to the chin and, like the hair, is equipped with the resizing menu. You can see the head piece better in the last shot.

Skin - Maya by Dream Ink
Make up - Nuuna's Makeups V4 by Nuuna's Skins
Dress - Eve by Cleo Couture
Nose chain - Ganesh by LOULOU&CO
Playlist: "Got to Give It Up" by Marvin Gaye and "I Wish I Was The Moon" by Neko Case

Next is the Afreet Short version. As you can see, same idea except without the long, flowing locks. Again, the head piece is included and is equipped with the resizing menu.

Skin - Ataciara, Song, London Fog by The Plastik
Clothes - Necromancer by Designs by Isaura
Playlist: "Girls Can Be Cruel" and "Love and Imitation" by Infusion

This one is Bourgeois Bomb.  More of a Victorian style with the hair piled up high.

Skin - Elena pale by Laq
Dress - At the Ascot by Cleo Couture
Earrings - Morpheus by LOULOU&CO
Playlist: "Nhu Suong Mai" by Phuong Vy and "Kamasutra" by Sitar

Finally, there's Trine.  This one has the hair pulled back to form three ponytails down the back. Kinda like something I used to do as a teenager.

Skin - Olivia Milky by Laq
Clothes - Bonney Lass by PixelDolls
Playlist: "Howlin' For You" by The Black Keys and "Magnetizing" by Marsmobil

Post Hair Fair Releases

This first one I started quite some time ago and never got around to finishing it for some reason.  Out of curiosity I checked the prim dates to see exactly when I started it and when I saw August 31, 2010 to Sept 6th I think it was I thought, 'Ah yeah. That explains it.'  That was about the time I got the biopsy results and found I had cancer for the 2nd time. But the chemo and radiation is all done now. I just have two surgeries to go so I'm of two minds about it - I'm not sure if I should be waving the happy flag of "Woohoo" or the white flag of 'Enough is Enough'.
I've called this one Sovereign and I had a lot of fun doing the shots for it.  It's a kind of 'over the top' piece featuring enormous curls, pearls and bows.  (A friend calls it 'rolla' hair.)  And for those of you who are curious, below is the difference between Bone and Argent from the Dead Pack.

And just for a different take on things, Seven modelled the hair with a distinctly....uhhh ...Gothic(?) flair.
Style Notes:
Elke is wearing:
Dress - White queen by Barerose
Skin - Mai Goth Bare by Nuuna's Skins
Seven is wearing:
Dress - Tsarina by Avid
Shoes - Skull Fetish Boots by Unique Needs
Skin - Elle Pale by Belleza
Playlist - "The Cello Song" by Steven Sharp Nelson & "You've Been Spiked" by Chris Joss

Next up is Chapeau. Yeah I know, I lacked a little creativity on the naming. Yes, it's 'hat hair'. Literally.

This style doesn't have any tips colors so the Dead Pack and Complete Packs have been adjusted in price to reflect this.
Style Notes:
Clothes: Glam Goth II Willow Crimson by Rfyre
Skin: Sara Pearl (with red lips tattoo layer) by Tuli
Playlist - "Go Home - Mesmer's Eyes Remix" by Corporate Soldiers & "Bamboo Banga" by M.I.A.

Hair Fair 2011

So it's that time of year again in Second Life.  Hair Fair is here and with it comes a plethora of new styles, designers, bandanas and gifts to overwhelm the residents.  I started building very late this year which resulted in some long hours, many pots of coffee and the occasional panic attack.  I've got five styles out for the women - sorry guys but it just wasn't flowing for me.  I'll go back and finish it once things have settled down.  I actually have a few styles I started and abandoned because I was fighting with them.  I'll get those done and out in the future as well.  On to the goodies. (This is going to be a long post...)

First up is Meena.  This one is a short, flippy do.  I didn't intend it as a retro thing but when I started doing the promo shots for it, it just kinda came out that way.

Style Notes:
Clothing - Baby It's Cold Out There by Cleo Couture
Shoes - Soleil by N-Core
Necklace - Sinra by Mandala
Skin - Mima Pale by Laqroki
Eye Makeup - Nuuna's Face Tattoos/Makeups 2 by Nuuna's Skins
Playlist - "I Only Have Eyes for You" by The Flamingos
"Nightshift (Diskonnekted) by Ghost & Writer

Style 2, which has a funky twist, is Neoteric.  This is an updo that has curls spilling forward from an open zipper running up the back of the hair.

Style Notes:
Red Dress - Flirt by Cleo Couture
Black Dress - Bo by LeeZu
Jewelry - Milky Way 2 by Mandala
Skin (First Pic) Alba by Mojo
(Second Pic) Afrodite by Unique Megastore
Playlist: "Chica Bomb" by Dan Bino
"Cry Baby" by Roisin Murphy
"Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" by Offspring

This one, which I called Leviathan, was done at the last minute.  I had been rewatching old episodes of Farscape which is where the inspiration for this one came from. When I had told a certain someone that I wasn't doing anything wild for Hair Fair this year, I didn't lie as this one hadn't even entered my mind yet.  This has five bound hair tubes terminating in a short tuft of hair in the front. Braids encircle the head with some flexi at the sides and back.

Style Notes:
Skin - Meg Pale by Akeruka
Makeup - Nuuna's Tattoo Layer Makeups v7 by Nuuna's Skins
Clothing - Athena by Barerose
Playlist: "Musika Atomica" by Syrian
"Plastik Fantastik" & "Like Something 4 Porno" by Felix da Housecat

The one below is Madison.  This has got hair strands loosely pulled around into a side braid.

Style Notes:
Skin - Eva Tone 1 by Tuli
Shoes - Soleil by N-Core
Clothes - Red Black Mini by Sn@oks
Playlist: "Kidz" by Take That
"Satyam Shivam Sundaram" by Thievery Corporation

Finally is one I called 10 Hour Hair.  It's a circle of hair twists with a small braid spanning the gap at the top.

Style Notes:
Skin - Audrey Tone 2 by Tuli
Clothing - Stripes by PixelDolls
Jewelry - Dusk Velvet Choker Set by Earthstones
Playlist: "Blow" by Ke$ha
"Electric" by Lisa Scott-Lee

Next is the gift I have out in the booth.  I thought I would do something a bit different this year so rather than do hair, I did a hat.

And finally, the bandanas.  I only did three this year because I didn't have time to do any more than that. I would have liked to do more but it just wasn't possible.

Remember, Bandana Day is July 15th and 100% of the sales go to Wigs For Kids

Golden Shapes

Ugh. I've tried writing this post I don't know how many times now. I'm tired of having things I've worked hard on usurped so, even though this post won't amount to a hill of beans at least I'll have the satisfaction of taking credit for something I've spent a lot of time perfecting and putting it out first.  It's free for group members for two weeks and will be for sale in the store...and won't cost an arm and a leg either.

This shape will look good with a wide variety of skins since the face has been created using the golden ratio.  For those of you who don't know what that is, it's the mathematical formula for beauty (in a nutshell).   If the eyebrow shape isn't to your liking, well, that's your own thing as it's adjustable in appearance mode under the "hair" tab (it's part of your bald base).

The shape is copy/modify/no transfer so you can tweak if you want to.  I know some of you like wider hips, longer legs, etc, etc than what this shape has.
